Weekly Classes 2024

Our classes are held at Delbridge Hall, 149 Cunninghame Street, Sale Victoria.

Classes are term based, usually with no training on public holidays or during school holidays.  Term fees cover all costs for classes, equipment hire, costume hire, and concert attendance at The Wedge in Sale - typically on the first Saturday of September school holidays.

Competitive students (Juniors and Intermdiates) will perform in 3 competitions each year in Melbourne, held on Saturdays or Sundays during Term 3, and early Term 4 each year.  Dates will be confirmed by Calisthenics Victoria in late May each year.  Typically one weekend class is held in Term 2 on a Sunday to finalise choreography, and one stage practice is held in early Term 3 on a Sunday for the team to familiarise themselves with "performing" and these classes are included in their competition entry fees.

All our students will be able to present for a state accredited Skill exam at the last class of Term 4, earning reward for the Skills they have learned throughout the year.  These skills will be polished during our Term 4 classes with the exam fee complimentary for those who have been a member for three terms in the calendar year.

Students can also opt in to participate in Solos, Duos, and Trios in up to three ways, and should discuss this during Term 3 with their Coach if interested:

  1. Compete in Metro competitions in Melbourne during Term 1 & Term 2 (entries close in October each year for competitions the following year)
  2. Compete in our Regional competition held in Sale in Term 2 (entries close in January each year)
  3. Present at our annual concert

Attendance

Calisthenics is a team sport, so regular attendance and commitment to their team is of utmost importance.  We can be flexible with each student should school/family/work commitments impact their ability to attend a weekly class provided we are notified prior.

If you are unable to attend class, you must notify your Coach prior to the session.  They may have a class plan which might be focussin on an area your child would benefit from, and if they are unable to attend the entire class plan might have to change last minute which negatively impacts the entire team.

Punctuality

Students are expected to be prompt to class, and ready to commence at the start time.  Delays for team mates to arrive affect the entire team, so please be mindful to be at the venue and changed ready to start practice by the class start time.  We open the venue 10 minutes prior to the class advertised start time - we also request if you arrive early that you do not enter the venue prior to the advertised start time without prior approval from the section coach.

If a student is going to be late, please let the Coach know beforehand in case they need to adjust their class plan to maximise the team outcomes for the week.

Parents are most welcome to stay at classes but are requested to be quiet during classes, especially with our Tinies, as noise in the room will be a distraction to the entire team.  Siblings are able to stay with parents provided they are quiet during classes - we also have a foyer area, and a park opposite the hall should you need a short break from the class.

Please notify the Coach if you are going to be late collecting your child, so we can ensure that someone is available to stay at the venue until they are collected.

Class times have been scheduled with minimal allowance for interruptions during and between sessions.  If you wish to speak to the Coach, please arrange a suitable time with them as they could perhaps arrive earlier or stay later than a planned session to chat with you.

Security

Students must stay inside the venue until their transport arrives - our Coaches will not allow them to leave until the child identifies their transport.

Guardians must have provided a contact phone number prior to departing the venue if their child attends any trial class and is not a registered students yet.  All guardians must maintain up to date contact details on their account for emergency contact during class times.

Presentation

Students are to be dressed in leotards with optional leggings/bike shorts, or tight fitting active wear.  Loose clothing is not permitted as it makes it difficult to safely pad the students during mat work and strength training.

Hair should be pinned or tied back if it can fall into the child's eyes, or get caught under their hands during gymnastic movements.
