Take your adaptive snowsport guiding skills to the next level with training in specific guiding skills.

Your experience level

  • Have secondary guided a stand up skier and/or sit-skier
  • Have some or no experience primary guiding a stand up skier and/or sit-skie

Please note: there is an minimum age requirement of 14 years of age to be able to guide.

You may learn

  • The different ways to guide a stand up skier and sit-skier with disabilities
  • Setting up and adjusting stand up outriggers
  • How to use tip clamps, tethers, spacer bars, horizontal poles and other guide assist techniques
  • How to guide a skier with a vision impairment
  • How to lead the load and unload of different types of lifts
  • How to set up different types of sit-skis
  • How to bucket and tether a bi-ski
  • How to ski in different sit-skis

How to register

  1. Apply for DWA Associate Membership
  2. Click register
  3. Answer all relevant questions
  4. Select either:
    1. Accommodation - if you would like DWA to provide accommodation at Howmans Gap
    2. Training only - if you don't need accommodation
  5. Submit registration

What to bring

  • Ski gear
  • Waterproof outerwear
  • Helmet
  • Food and drink (or money to buy them)
