DWA is excited to announce our first two winter members camps specifically dedicated to Para Nordic Skiing. Through a Sport Australia Participation Grant, DWA is establishing the sport of ParaNordic Skiing, which includes Para Cross Country Skiing (Para XC) and Para Biathlon, on and off snow across 5 states. The first two on snow camps will be held this year at:

Falls Creek: 19-22 August 2022

Perisher: 9 – 12 September 2022

As these camps are being held as part of the grant pilot programs, there will be minimal cost to members and guides who attend. In addition, some of our newly trained DWA Para Nordic Adaptive Snowsport Guides, and Para Nordic Coaches will be attending the camps to support members on snow.

We now calling for applications to take up this exciting opportunity to participate in these funded and exciting camps!

There are places for up to 8 participants on these camps, with a maximum of 2 sit ski participants (due to equipment constraints). All participants are required to be (or be eligible to become) full members of DWA. Para Cross Country skiing is a strenuous activity, and as there are very limited places available,  the camp is targeted at those who genuinely wish to try ParaNordic Skiing, whether for leisure or as a potential competitive pathway.

Perisher NSW: 9th to 12th September.

Schedule

• Fri 9 September: Participants arrive by 4pm to Finsko’s at Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre
• Sat 10 and Sun 11 September: On-snow Para Cross Country and Para Biathlon program at Perisher Alpine Resort (Nordic Shelter)
• Mon 12 September: Check out of Finskos and head home

Includes:

• 3 nights accommodation at Finsko’s
• Main meals - Dinner Fri night through to breakfast Sun 12 September
• Transport between Finsko’s and Perisher daily
• All required XC ski equipment
• A welcome pack

Cost:

Nil – you will be required to provide your own clothing and personal supplies.

If you would like to try Para XC or Para Biathlon, but you are not able to attend one of these camps, we will have a range of off snow programs on offer, including Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Wodonga, Jindabyne and Adelaide. Please keep an eye out on our website for further details on these.
