The MAST Motor Boat Course is an INTENSIVE course delivered by instructors accredited with Marine and Safety Tasmania to deliver motor boat licenses in Tasmania.

The Derwent Sailing Squadron (DSS) runs regular full and provisional MAST Motorboat licence courses at their Sandy Bay, Hobart headquarters.

The MAST Motor Boat Provisional licence for children 12-17 years can be offered during all courses. When registering for a provisional licence use the discount code PROV to receive the provisional licence rate of $100.

The 4-hour course teaches safe boating procedures by combining practical exercises with theory instruction.  Students receive  training out on the water, and a maximum theory class size of 4 students, to create the best possible learning environment.

The course includes a practical session in a motor boat, a theory session, and an exam. Please ensure you have obtained and understand the Tasmanian Safe Boating Handbook, a publication available at the Derwent Sailing Squadron, Marine and Safety Tasmania and Service Tasmania.
