My hope for the DHC going forward is to build on the already strong foundations that have been established. I look forward to sharing fresh ideas, refining existing policies, making improvements and finding solutions. There are three key areas that I would like to focus on in 2020: transparency, communication and support.

It is my aim (with your assistance) to formulate a set of guidelines that will assist with the positive (transparent) and successful running of the DHC across all portfolios – juniors, seniors, sponsorship, social media etc.

Good communication is the key to everything. Support is essential in any workplace, family or sporting club. Being part of a sporting club can be like family. The hockey season is long and lots of time is spent at the hockey centre, there are always going to be highs and lows. However, with support comes greater enthusiasm and energy. Individuals are more willing to put up their hand to help if they know they have a supportive, committed and enthusiast team surrounding them.

As a person; I am a calm operator. I am an observer. I am considered with my approach and my opinion. I am approachable and open to your suggestions and ideas. I will seek your advice and ask for your guidance. I do like to play by the rules, but I am logical. Our club is filled with many wonderful people, some with family ties to DHC across many generations.

Our job is to continue to work with these people, developing future plans, strategies and values that will set us up long into the future. Values that will guide our members on and off the field.

Values that include club spirit, family orientation, inclusiveness, sponsor support, providing positive role models and mentors, loyalty and friendship to name a few. I look forward to working with you all in 2020.
