Dry Season Racing – Annual race series from May to October

Darwin Sailing Club (DSC) hosts annual racing series throughout the dry season from May to October, taking full advantage of the Top End's cool, breezy conditions. Racing includes Off the Beach & Big Boat Series - designed to challenge sailors skills and encourage friendly competition. 

After each race, sailors & spectators gather at Donny's Den to recount the day's events, celebrate the winners and enjoy a sunset drink and hangout. Race results are determined by handicap, ensuring a fair competition for all boats.

Off The Beach Divisions

Racing is open to the following divisons:

Division 5: ILCA & Tasar

Division 6: Minnow & International Cadet

Division 7: A-Class & Tornado & Nacra

Division 8: Mixed off the beach mulithulls

Division 9: Mixed off the beach monohulls

Division 10: Boards (windsurfers, wings & kites)

 

 

 

SPRINT SERIES

Sprint Series comprises of 7 race days throughout the season and is open to off the beach divisions.

The first half of the season, racing commences at 1000 and the second half racing commences at 1400, with 4 short races back to back. Boats are typically off the water around 1230 / 1630. All are welcome to join in the comraderie and rehash the afternoon of sailing at the Club afterwards.

NT SURGERY CLUB SERIES

Club Race Series comprises of 7 race days throughout the season and is open to off the beach divisions.

Racing commences at 1000 the first half of the season and returns to 1400 the second half, with 2 races back to back. Boats are typically off the water around 1230 / 1630. All are welcome to join in the comraderie and rehash the afternoon of sailing at the Club afterwards.
We encourage our Learn To Sail participants to join the afternoon racing with on-water support and supervision. This is a great way to develop confidence and to consolidate and build new skills with new-found friends.

Join us for social racing on Saturday afternoons when the tide is right! Starting at 1630 off the Mary Woodrow Start Boat. After enjoy a Darwin Sunset with a drink at the Club!

NT CHAMPIONSHIPS

NT Championships is the premier event for off the beach classes with the winner in each division being crowned NT Champion. The regatta runs over 2 days with 8 races scheduled.

GARMIN/NAVCOM CLASSIC SERIES 

Classic Series compromises of 5 race days throughout the season and is desgined around our Big Boat divisions.

Races commense at 1000 and consist of longer harbour courses with each race offering something a little different. Crews gather back at the Club for race presentation, BBQ and drinks to rehash the afternoon of sailing. Races in the series include Shell Island, Middle Arm, East Point, Old Man Rock & Cock of the Sea.

Darwin Sailing Club (DSC) hosts a variety of Regattas throughout the dry season from May to October, taking full advantage of the Top End's cool, breezy conditions. Racing includes Off the Beach & Big Boat Events - designed to challenge sailors skills and encourage friendly competition.

 

YOUTH SAIL NORTHERN TERRITORY

YouthSail Northern Territory is the premier Youth and Junior sailing event in the Top End! This event is open to all Australian Sailing affiliated sailors both in the NT and Interstate. 

The 2025 YouthSail Northern Territory event includes a three day coaching camp with top coaches from the NT and Interstate followed by the three day Northern Territory Youth Championships.

2025 MINNOW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Darwin is lucky to be hosting the 2025 Minnow National Championships in the July School Holidays!

DARWIN 2 SAUMLAKI

Saumlaki is the largest town and has a population of about 15,000 people located due north of Darwin on the south end of Pulan (Island) Yamdena in a natural harbour.

The Tanimbar Islands, also called Timur Laut, are a group of about 65 islands in the Maluku Province of Indonesia, including Fordata, Larat, Maru, Molu, Nuswotar, Selaru, Selu, Seira, Wotap, Wuliaru and Yamdena.
