We are thrilled to introduce our latest sailing initiative, Sailing Over Seas, designed specifically for international students in Darwin! In collaboration with StudyNT, this program offers a unique opportunity for students from various universities and tertiary institutions to learn the art of sailing.
Every Tuesday from 4 PM to 8 PM, we host 35 enthusiastic international students, guiding them through the fundamentals of sailing on RS Quests. The response has been overwhelming, with an average of 30 students participating in each session. Our dedicated instructors, Meg and Josh, have been leading the way, teaching students essential skills like steering and tacking. Even after just two sessions, the progress has been remarkable, with students quickly gaining confidence on the water.
But the fun doesn’t stop once the sails are lowered! After each sailing session, we open the doors to Donny's Den @ 6pm for a classic Aussie BBQ. We encourage all members and sailors to join us for a sunset drink, providing a relaxed and welcoming environment for socializing. This is a fantastic opportunity for the local sailing community to connect with international students, share stories, and inspire the next generation of sailors.
We look forward to seeing you on the water and at Donny's Den as we continue to build a vibrant, inclusive sailing community at Darwin Sailing Club!
