The Instructor Development Program (IDP) is a four-year pathway empowering youth aged 12 and older to grow as leaders, skilled sailors, and confident mentors.
IDP participants begin by learning foundational skills and collaborating with peers in the first two years. In the final stages, participants guide junior instructors, progressing towards becoming lead instructors.
With support from the Australian Sailing Association, IDP includes practical training, weekend courses, and flexible online inductions. Participants meet weekly at the Training Academy at DSC and Lake Alexander to develop both on-water skills and instructing expertise.
