COURSE DETAILS

Tackers is a fun introductory, games-based sailing program designed for kids aged 7 to 12 years; an ideal introduction to dinghy sailing. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate.
All the equipment, including the boats, are provided. Tackers is delivered in small groups of 6 to 10 boats specifically designed for the program and supervised by Australian Sailing qualified Instructors and Assistant Instructors who are on the water all the time the kids are sailing.
There are three levels that kids can progress through, Tackers 3 is the third and final level. Each level involves around 20 hours of participation structured as a 4 day holiday program or as a series of sessions on a weekly basis.
Each course is focused on having fun, playing games while learning the basics of sailing.
LENGTH OF COURSE
The course can run for 4 full days during the school holiday programs or once a week for 6 weeks during the School term courses.
PRE-REQUISITES
The skills and experiences outlined in your Tackers 1 and 2 certificates.
WHERE TO FROM HERE
Once your child has passed Tackers 2, they can then move on to Tackers 3 which continues their learning and helps advance their skills in sailing.
We also have a program called Opti Training, which is all about getting more time on the water. This is a great way for the kids to practise and refine the skills they are learning in Tackers. You can do this program while completing Tackers 2 or 3 or after finishing Tackers 2 or 3.
If you have any questions on what your child should do next contact us here or check out the Junior Sailing Pathway here.
