Beginner - Learn to Sail a Dinghy!
Adult Start Sailing is designed for beginner adults 18+, this program introduces the fundamentals of sailing an off the beach dinghy. Participants will sail in our stable and versatile RS Quest dinghies that hold up to 3-4 adults. Under the guidance of Australian Sailing qualified instructors, you’ll gain essential skills in boat handling, navigation, and water safety—skills that can be applied to a wide range of vessels.
In a supportive and friendly environment, participants will learn how to harness the wind, steer confidently, and develop the knowledge needed to sail independently. No prior experience is necessary, making it the perfect opportunity to begin your sailing journey!
This course includes a one-year Social Membership to the Darwin Sailing Club, valued at $96. On the first day, participants will receive their membership cards and gain access to all social membership benefits!
After course completion participants will walk away with a Start Sailing Certificate that is recognized Australia wide.
Course Highlights:

- Key sailing techniques, including steering, tacking, and jibing

Pre-Requisites:
- Participants should ideally be water confident, but will always wear life jackets during sessions.
- Ideally physically capable of bending, crouching, moving in a seated position & lifting 5kgs.

What to Bring with you:
TOP - You will want a long sleeve shirt or rashie that will protect you from the sun and the stingers!
BOTTOMS - We require all participants to wear some form of Stinger Protection, such as leggings, tights or stinger suit!
CLOSED TOE SHOES - This can be a pair of runners you don't mind getting wet or Aqua shoes from your last snorkelling adventure!
SUN PROTECTION - We recommend bringing a Hat, Sunscreen, Water Bottle and Sunnies!
