Membership with Dragons Abreast Canberra (DAC) has two different components.
Part 1: Dragon Boat ACT membership
$310 (+ transaction fee)
Dragon Boat ACT (DBACT) is the governing body for the sport of dragon boating in the ACT. The DBACT membership fee pays for access to DBACT facilities and equipment, your insurance coverage, and the AusDBF* paddler levy.
Part 2: Dragons Abreast Australia membership
$25 (+ transaction fee)
Dragons Abreast Australia (DAA) is a national charity with groups spread across the country and more than 1200 individual members, the majority of whom are breast cancer survivors. Membership of DAA enables us to attend breast cancer survivor national and international events which is pretty special!
Dragons Abreast Canberra doesn't charge any additional fees. Your membership includes the loan of a personal flotation device (PFD) for the duration of your time with us. DBACT has a stock of paddles for use by members too, so you don't need to buy any additional equipment to participate.
* The Australian Dragon Boat Federation (AusDBF) is the national governing body for dragon boating in Australia. DBACT is a member of AusDBF and AusDBF is a member of the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF). By being a member of DAC, you are connected to thousands of dragon boaters across the whole wide world!!
Dragons Abreast Canberra welcomes non-paddling members who would like to be connected to the club, many of whom generously donate their time to volunteer as Officials or in some other capacity to assist our club. By becoming a non-paddling member, you will be able to participate in our social 'off-water' events, and stay connected to our wonderful community. To be a non-paddling member, you do not have to pay the DBACT fee but do need to pay the DAA fee.
