Warrnambool regatta 2019 (Round 4): a whale of a time

Published Sun 03 Nov 2019

A great weekend (2-3 November 2019) of racing at a new location: Hopkins River, Warrnambool Rowing Club.

It was a great turn out with 26 club participants across six categories where we took out GOLD in Premier Open 20s over 500 m and 2 km.

Congratulations to Steve Nguyen and Richard Sadikin on thriving in their first regatta and welcome back to Alexander Boyd-Cave, Kaitlyn Meyer and Karen Yip on their first regatta with the team this season.

Sadly, it is the final send-off regatta for Jonathan Low as he gets ready to head off to Thailand to continue his new life chapter and career path! Well done Jono on your contributions to the club and to Dragon Boat Victoria as a highly valued member of the board.

We can each only achieve so much as an individuals but as a unified team, there is nothing we cannot achieve! Continued hard work and training and the results will speak for themselves.

WARRNAMBOOL REGATTA 2019

Now for some words for CYSM debutant Steve Nguyen:

"A fantastic weekend. I certainly achieved my personal goals that I set out for myself and I hope everyone else that went did too. Just wanted to also take this opportunity to thank all the coaches, captains and of course my CYSM crew members for welcoming me into the club with open arms. Certainly makes Melbourne feel like home. To my fellow new recruits, remember that no one here expects you to be the best, but they do ask for you to put in your best. As long as you put your heart in every session and every stroke, everyone here will be proud of you, and the results will come."
