For this year's CNY regatta, we headed down to the Maribrynong River, Footscray. A first for DBV, it was a great location for straight 200m races. We fielded crews in the Premier Opens and Mixed, as well as a combined crew in the Premier Womens with some girls from the Southern Storm. An awesome team effort today that saw us place 3rd in all categories in a very competitive field.

It was so great to see Vicky Chung, Tina Wee, Mandy Li, Claire Tan and Cat Besido take to the drummer's seat in different races, combining so well with sweeps Chris Phoumsavanh and Coach Joe to drive us to the finish line. Great leadership by our captains, especially Carlos Diz, for keeping us focused and accountable. This regatta was the regatta debut for Kai Yan Lin, Da Li and Shen Loh. They did admirably well and it can be said that they all enjoyed the thrill of racing. The former two, with Cindy Lu, were also members of the Melbourne Rapids Junior crew (under 24s) who also made their debuts. A strong Victorian junior team on the making. 

A huge thank you from the team to Angie Alethea Fu Enqi who was our team race manager and volunteers Ankit (Mon's boyfriend) and Poh Young Tan (Claire's sister) who did a stellar job with boat handling for the day. Thanks also to all family and friends who made time to come support us despite the murky weather.

With each regatta, CYSM Sea Dragons are making their mark, and the best is yet to come!
