Round 3 Nagambie regatta 2019

Published Sun 06 Oct 2019

With the end of daylight saving time, we all had an early start for round 3 of the DVB regatta series in Nagambie for some exciting 500m racing.

We fielded Premier crews in mixed 10s/20s, womens 10s and open 10s/20s, with support fron a number of our friends from Geelong Dragon Boat Club - Silvana Acevedo, Robert Glue, Lauren Vallance, Margaret Harry, Vijay Lachimi and Ann Stacpoole (Dragons Afloat Bendigo) - who paddled or swept with us.

Congratulations to Andrew, Pei and Kenny who entered their first regatta with us!!

Also a huge congratulations to Ting and Meng who passed their Level 2 sweep course on Saturday and to Meng in particular who swept her first regatta 👏🏻👍🏻!

Other paddlers had time to experience new roles in the team like our beloved Twins working as power sprinters for our 20s Open crew.

Nagambie 2019

The final results from the day:

  • Mixed 20s (with Geelong) - 3rd in aggregate time over 2 heats
  • Mixed 10s - 4th after 2 heats and final
  • Open 20s - 2nd in aggregate time over 2 heats
  • Open 10s - 3rd in final
  • Womens 10s (with Geelong) - 4th in final

The day was focused on 500m distance, a distance we continue to improve with each passing regatta and training session.

Our Opens crews continue with their strong performance this year, placing in both 10s and 20s with some exciting and very close finishes.

Nagambie 2019A big thank you as always to Oana who never fails to capture these amazing photo memories of the day when she is not ferociously paddling in the boat with the rest of us. More of her shots will be made available on the club's Facebook page for you to enjoy.
