Light Up Melbourne

From Saturday, 6 April 2019 to Tuesday, 9 April 2019, Birrarung Marr was illuminated by custom-built lanterns with themes and market stalls for the Light Up Melbourne festival. The festival payed homage to the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival, to bring joy, hope and happiness to everyone. The centrepiece was a lit up Eternal Dragon symbolising good fortune, strength and nobility.

On Saturday night, 5 dragon boats were lit up and showcased dragon boating with neon lights to onlookers at the festival. All boats started at the boat hub in Docklands and paddled up the Yarra River together until we arrived at Birrarung Marr. The night was very calm and not too cold, so it was perfect for everyone involved. Once we arrived at the festival, we did a few loops around the river to showcase the dragon boats and even had a mock 100m race. It was a fantastic and fun event for everyone involved and we hope that you caught us and enjoyed the show!
