Dragon boat is a global sport with clubs in various countries, which means that you can always find a club to train with. Our paddler, Shen Loh, recently went to Los Angeles for a holiday. But guess what? Exploring Los Angeles was not the only thing on his to do list.
“I was planning my trip to Los Angeles and dragon boat was at the top of my list. I caught up with LARD (Los Angeles Racing Dragons) on the 10th December 2017 and had a very unique experience! It was a beautiful Sunday morning when LARDs would gather for their regular training session on Long Beach. Since it was winter, they focused on technique and efficiency. This was funny because it was summer in Australia! After training with LARD, I can conclude the following:
- Dragon boat is for all ages. The oldest LARD member was 70+ and I also managed to convince my uncle to try with me!
- Dragon boat is world-wide. I wished I had spent more time in LA to train with LARD so I highly recommend all paddlers to visit a local dragon boat team when they are travelling.
I would like to thank LARD for the awesome experience and I hope to see them again! Happy Paddling!”
