For some of us, training is a ritual and commitment to training is something that is taken very seriously. And how true this is for second season paddler Connie Li. She "highly encouraged" her friend to have her wedding after April so that she could attend AusChamps. What a great friend Connie has there.
Read the following exchange between Committed Connie and Captain Cat regarding her attendance at a club training camp that happened to fall on the same day as her friend's wedding.
Committed Connie: Morning Cat! Is there a schedule for this Sat’s training camp? I’ll have to see what time I need to leave the wedding ceremony to make it for the afternoon session and also what time to leave training to make it for the wedding dinner. Trying to fit both wedding and training commitments on Saturday :)
Captain Cat: No schedule yet but I can check for you. I admire and love love love your commitment to the team lol! What time is the wedding? I thought you could only attend the morning training camp session. Just do that lol. Don't worry about the afternoon. But given what you managed to negotiate with the wedding lol, it’s OK if you can’t attend the training camp. You’ve training consistently all year plus state. I just don't want you rushing from one place to the other. I’ll get the agenda from Carlos. Let me know what’s best for you.
Committed Connie: I’m definitely committed :)
Wedding is in the morning 10:30am in the city (near Parliament). The dinner is for close family and friends (they ordered catering at their house) so I can be a bit late and even shower there if need be lol. So I can probably fit afternoon session in between :)
For the record, she made it to both!!
Editor's notes: Connie was both Best Female Rookie and Coach's Choice awardee last season, and will be representing Team CYSM Sea Dragons and Team Victoria at AusChamps 2017.
