CYSM Sea Dragons were back at our favourite venue, Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre, for the 2 day Victorian Championships. It was a nerve-wracking event, but our training and commitment to the dragon boat sport all came together over the 2 days. Our team has progressed in leaps and bounds from last season, achieving some of our best performances in history! This year was the first year we had a Masters crew, our Womens crew grew stronger than ever before and it was the first VicChamps for a number of our members. However most importantly, we enjoyed each other’s company and had lots of fun (and food) at the same time.

Our results over the 2 days were:

• Premier Open 20s 2km – 3rd (11:24.02)

• Senior A Open 10s 500m – 2nd (02:25.19 & 02:23.97)

• Premier Open 10s 500m – 1st (02:21.40 & 02:24.00)

• Premier Womens 10s 500m – 2nd (02:42.25 & 02:41.77)

• Premier Mixed 20s 500m – 3rd (02:17.77 & 02:17.18)

• Premier Open 20s 200m – 3rd (00:53.10 & 00:54.06)

• Senior A Open 10s 200m – 2nd (00:56.27 & 00:56.58)

• Premier Mixed 10s 200m – 1st (00:56.69 & 00:58.01)

• Premier Women 10s 200m – 4th (01:01.68 & 01:05.21)

Only one more month left until the Australian Championships in Canberra! During this time, whatever we do from now on, take a moment to consider if what we are doing will make our boat move faster. If yes, do it! If not, rethink your decision!
