Umpiring

Umpiring can provide you with some great personal rewards and lifelong friendships. As an umpire you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the rules, quick decision-making, an ability to explain and defend decisions and a willingness to keep the game moving at a steady pace.

Umpiring opportunities are available from juniors right through to senior competitions. All you need to become an umpire, is to have an interest in sport and a willingness to be involved. As umpires gain skills and confidence, they often seek optional ongoing accreditation, which can lead to umpiring state, national and international games.

Softball Australia has developed an extensive range of educational umpiring resources for beginner, intermediate and advanced umpires.

CNSA have an initiative whereby all plate umpires are paid $20 per duty performed. Base umpires are not eligible for payment.
