It is with great sadness that we advice the passing of long time Croydon member, Gurcharn Rehill.
Gurcharn played 1133 games from 1974 till 2019, and is 19th on the all time player’s games tally. Over his playing career, mainly at Knox Table Tennis Club, he achieved 16 Premierships, 12 Team Runner Up’s and 12 Leading Player trophies. He is one of only two players to achieve 5 consecutive Premierships in Monday night’s A1 grade (the other his team mate Karl McKernan).
Gurcharn also represented Victoria at the Australian National Veteran Championships on at least 4 occasions, winning Gold in the Victorian Over 50 Men’s State Team in 1993 and Silver in the Victorian Over 70’s Men’s State Team in 2010.
Gurcharn was a gentleman of our game and will always be remembered as being well respected and quietly spoken player.
Gurcharn is survived by his children – Ravi, Paul & Sharn and his grandchildren.
The life of Gurcharn Singh Rehill will be celebrated next week on Thursday 12 September at 11am. The service will be held at the Boyd Chapel at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, 600 Princes Highway, Springvale.
