It is with great sadness that we inform all of the passing of Derek Stuart, a stalwart of Croydon & Districts Table Tennis.
Derek commenced playing at Croydon in 1976 and he played for the Dorset Gardens Table Tennis Club for his entire time. He was President/Secretary of Dorset Gardens TTC for over 20 years.
Derek also helped with coaching at Croydon and he was always at the stadium every Sunday morning helping players.
Derek played 1549 games, which is the the 2nd most games ever played at Croydon. He was fortunate to have won 14 premierships, 16 runner ups and 8 leading player awards,.
Derek also won the Croydon Senior Player of the year on one occasion and the Presidents Trophy on three occasions.
Derek was also quite the handyman, and there would be many Croydon members who have had fences, pergolas built by Derek.
The family has advised that they will be holding a private funeral. Our condolences and thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
