The Metro Championships are being held on June 8-10 at the Kilsyth Stadium. There is also a possibility that some team matches will be played at the Dandenong Table Tennis stadium on Heatherton Road, Dandenong.
Entries are now open for Croydon players wishing to enter and represent Croydon. The Championships comprise both Teams & Individual events. Player need to play in teams to be eligible to play in the individuals. Playing individuals goes towards State team eligibility.
The Teams format is three - four-player teams, where each player will be involved in playing multiple singles matches and may also include doubles. Each grade will consist of 4 teams, and the teams are played all day Saturday and all day Sunday. However a player will only play either Saturday or Sunday, depending on where their grade is scheduled to play - you will not play teams matches on both days.
The teams matches will be played on the Saturday & Sunday and the Individual tournament on the Monday. There are State Team Points for all singles events, so for those chasing State Team aspirations, playing individuals is important for you. There is possibility, depending on how many other clubs enter, that your grade could be played at the Dandenong Table Tennis Club - this will be due to us reaching capacity and the requirement for more tables.
The cost for each player to play in the team is $35 each. The cost for individuals ranges between $12-$15 per event.
Regardless of whether you are listed as Croydon, Knox, Kilsyth, Mooroolbark, Rockblasting United or ICC, you will play under the Croydon name and you will also need to wear a Croydon shirt. However, if you are TTV registered as a Miao TTA, Scorpio, Loops, ESCTTA member, you should play under that clubs team, though you may also play for Croydon, depending on circumstances.
