Canberra Runners Half Marathon and 10 km 2025
Details
Event information
We Run CBR: Canberra Runners are proud to host the 2025 Canberra Runners Half Marathon
The Canberra Runners Half Marathon will be held in late Autumn (Sunday, 25 May 2025), following the cycle path around the West Basin of Lake Burley Griffin on beautiful Ngunnawal and Ngambri land. The course is undulating and offers views of Australia’s national landmarks including Government House, Parliament House and the National Museum. You will run a path less travelled, through a spectacular cork plantation, eucalypts and close to exotic animals at the Canberra Zoo and Aquarium. You really will Run Canberra!
The race starts and finishes at Lennox Gardens which is easily accessed via public transport or car. The course begins on Northbound Flynn Drive and then Alexandrina Drive, both of which will be closed from 7 am to ~ 9.30 am, before joining the West Basin cycle path. The cut-off for completion of the event is 3 hours 30 minutes.
Registration
The Canberra Runners Half Marathon is one of the most beautiful and affordable half marathons in Australia. Early bird entry fees are $40 for members of Canberra Runners and $70 for non-members. After 31 March entry fees will be $55 for members and $85 for non‑members.
Entries close at 7 pm on Wednesday, 21 May 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
Participants must be 16 years of age on or before 25 May 2025 to register for the Canberra Runners Half Marathon. Non-registered persons will not be permitted to participate. This includes children in prams. An event for children will be held in and around Lennox gardens on the Saturday afternoon. For more information, see below section "10 km Race and 1.6 km run for children" or check our Facebook and Instagram pages.
As much as we love our pooches, all animals are strictly prohibited from entering any part of the course at any time. However, we welcome dogs on leads in the race village.
Prizes and medals
Prizes and medals will be awarded to the first three males and females in the Half Marathon.
Finishers' medals will be provided for all finishers in the 10 km and Half Marathon events.
Drink Stations and Recovery Area
There will be four drink stations at approximately 4km, 8.5km, 12km and 17km. The 17 km drink station will support the 10 km event at the 4 km and 6 km marks. At the finish, there will be a recovery area, with fruit, water and an energy drink.
Race Day
The Canberra Runners Half Marathon starts at 8.00 am on Sunday 25 May 2025.
Race Bibs
Race bibs may be collected from the race village on Saturday 24 May from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm or on race day from 7:00 am to 7:40 am.

10 km race and 1.6 km run for children
Following the success of last year's 10 km race, this year's Half Marathon will again include a low-cost 10 km race. The run will start by 8.10 am on Flynn Drive, heading north, joining the Half Marathon course before Commonwealth Bridge, and continuing on the Half Marathon course to a turnaround point near the Half Marathon 16 km distance. Entry is $10 for members and $25 for non-members. Participants must be at least 15 years of age and be able to complete the run in less than 80 minutes (to avoid congestion at the turnaround point for the 10 km).
The 1.6 km run at Lennox Gardens for juniors on Saturday 24 May 2025 continues. This year for the first time, there will be two waves: the first for juniors from 10 to under 15 years of age, and the second for juniors under 10 years of age. The first wave will start at 3.00 pm, and the second at 3.05 pm. The run is free for members and $5 for non-members. You can register online for the 1.6 km Junior Race via Canberra Runners 1.6 km Junior Race 2025 - Canberra Runners - revolutioniseSPORT preferred). Or, you can register on the day at Lennox Gardens, on Saturday 24 May 2025, from 1.30 to 2.30 pm.
