Para-rowing
Para-rowing provides athletes with a physical or intellectual impairment the opportunity to be active on the water, get involved in a fun and friendly club environment, and participate in a variety of competitions from club regattas through state and national championships to world championships and the Paralympic games.
The sport can cater for athletes with a variety of impairments. Para-Rowing is integrated into the main rowing program in Australia and Internationally. It was introduced as a Paralympic sport at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and therefore provides athletes with the opportunity to achieve at the highest level.
At Capital Lakes Rowing Club we cater for athletes with vision, physical and intellectual impairment. If you have not rowed before then you will go through the Learn-to-Row program and then continue rowing in an organised supervised program, generally one day per week. At all times our athletes are supervised and we encourage carers or support people to also become involved in the rowing program. Further information can be obtained by contacting capitallakes@gmail.com
Learn-to-row courses cost $250.
Para-rowing is conducted on Sunday mornings from 7.30-9.30 am. Yearly memberships cost $250.
If you wish to row more than once per week then you will sign up for a para rowing regular membership which costs $550. If you participate in regattas this will attract additional fees.
