Member Protection Policies
ACSA Member Protection
Statement:
The Australian CheerSport Alliance (ACSA) is firmly committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and protection of all its members, particularly children. While ACSA has implemented various policies and guidelines - linked below - we recognize that these alone may not provide a comprehensive guide to member protection and child safety. Therefore, we strongly encourage our members to refer to external resources, such as Play By The Rules (website), to access additional information and guidance on crucial topics related to member protection.
ACSA acknowledges the importance of staying informed about mandatory reporting requirements, duty of care, identifying persons of vulnerability, and other essential aspects of safeguarding children. Play By The Rules is a reputable resource that provides extensive information, tools, and educational materials on these topics, and more.
In line with our commitment to child safety, ACSA emphasizes the importance of individuals in positions of responsibility working with children to undergo a thorough working with children check. This check ensures that individuals have met the necessary requirements and have been assessed for their suitability to engage with children in a safe and appropriate manner.
ACSA encourages all its members, including coaches, volunteers, administrators, and parents, to familiarize themselves with the resources and guidelines provided by Play By The Rules. By equipping ourselves with the knowledge and understanding of member protection and child safety, we collectively contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all involved in cheerleading within the ACSA community.
ACSA remains dedicated to regularly reviewing and updating our policies and practices, seeking continuous improvement in member protection and child safety. Together, we can uphold the highest standards of safety, well-being, and respect within the Australian CheerSport Alliance.
