Woy Woy Wasps Win first Interclub Comp

Published Fri 12 Apr 2024

We're thrilled to announce that the 'Woy Woy Wasps' emerged victorious in the inaugural Interclub competition held at Brush Farm Park, Eastwood, competing in the 3.0-3.5 Division! Despite facing scorching temperatures exceeding 30 degrees throughout the long summer, our team demonstrated unwavering determination and resilience on the outdoor courts, an environment unfamiliar to many of us accustomed to indoor play.

As CCPBww's debut in interclub competition, the most significant takeaway was the unity and camaraderie displayed by the club members, rallying together as a cohesive team and supporting one another throughout the tournament. This experience provided invaluable practice and exposure to competitive outdoor play, an essential aspect of pickleball competitions.

After finishing second in the round-robin phase, our Wasps faced formidable opponents, the PIPsters, in the final showdown. Despite the challenge, our team rose to the occasion, securing a remarkable 6-2 victory and clinching the coveted Interclub trophy.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the members who participated in this milestone event: Asoka, Angela, Jason M, Charlie E, Steven FS, Sue D, and substitutes Claire E, Kim, Belinda, Mark T - led by Captain Nina J. Additionally, we acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Matt Noone, Pickleball NSW, and the dedicated volunteers whose efforts were instrumental in bringing this competition to fruition.
