The Central Coast Academy of Sport Hockey program has kicked into gear this week for the 2019/20 Summer program. 

"It is great to have so many of our local athletes participating in this years program which is great news for Central Coast" said Central Coast Hockey President and Academy Program Head Coach Brett Johnson. "What is even more pleasing is that for the first time we have a full girls team. We had some people lobbying pretty hard to make this happen so looking forward to see how they develop over the coming months".

We have got some great people involved in the program this year including CCAS Boys Head Coach Mark McDermott and Girls Assist coach Peter Moore who have both recently been involved in the Hockey NSW U13 State teams and have some great insights into the State level programs and skill and game focus areas. Kelly Greenwood has also come on board as the CCAS Girls Head Coach this year and is extremely enthusiastic about being involved with this years Girls squad.

Mick Tweedie has also continued on as our program Goalkeeper coach and will provide 1:1 coaching to our only goalkeeper in the program, Katilyn Williams. 

We also have U21 Aust Burra player Brinley Gallagher coming to some training sessions and pass on his knowledge and expertise as well past CCAS athlete Marcus James coming on board as a program mentor after being involved in the Academy programs for the past 3 years .

In the lead up to the Academy Games in April 2020, the squad will have over 30hrs of skill development sessions, fitness sessions at Mingara Gym, fitness session with the CCAS triathlon program and skills sessions with the CCAS Netball Head Coach focusing on how to lead effectively. The program also has a pre Xmas camp in Armidale where they will train with the Northern Inland and Hunter Academy of Sport squads.
