Goldsborough Goldrush
Details
Event information
This is a trail race event along the rainforested Goldfields Trail with all distances being out and back courses.
We have something for everyone - if you're not ready to tackle the slopes of Bartle Frere you'll still find a challenge and beautiful scenery by entering the Causeway Crusade (18k), the Eureka 10 (10k) or the Nugget (5k)
The Nugget (5km) run route is along the flat grassy Mulgrave River Valley floor. The Eureka 10 (10km) run route continues on into the shady rainforest on a wide, undulating earthen track.
The Causeway Crusade (18km) run route continues still further and takes you to the scenic East Mulgrave Causeway turnaround point.
The Goldrush Marathon? If you like a challenge, then this is it! Arguably one of the toughest (but beautifulest) trail courses in Far North Queensland. The marathon follows a historic trail through the rainforest, crossing a number of glorious creeks along the way, and climbing over a saddle between Queensland's two highest peaks, Bartle Frere, and Bellenden Ker.
START TIMES:
6.30AM for Marathon runners
8:30AM for 5k, 10k and 17km runners
CHECK-IN: From 05:45AM
AFTERWARDS! Stick around to debrief over a BBQ brunch/lunch (depending on your finish time!)
CAMPING! Want to make the race something to remember? Make a weekend of it and camp! Bookings through National Parks (get in quick to secure the spot you need), or if you get stuck, get in touch - we have booked some larger spots and will have room for sweaty runners https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/camping/bookings
DRESS CODE! We are running on the historic GOLDfield trail, so get your bling on! For a bit of fun please wear something golden...
FINE PRINT: Runners must be self-sufficient on all of the courses. There is no mandatory gear, but marathon runners should carry water and nutrition and be prepared for some technical trail after the causeway, and decent elevation (1,115m overall). Water bottles can be refilled at the checkpoint at Babinda Boulders, or at creeks along the way. There is no 'cut-off' per se, but our marshall at Babinda Boulders will pack up at 10.30 (i.e. you have four hours to get to the half-way point). Mobile reception is patchy on course, and non-existent at our start-finish location - you'll have to wait til you get back to the big smoke to share your epic weekend on socials.
