Course information
The Powerboat Handling course is designed to introduce practical driving skills, trip planning, boat maintenance, safety equipment, and enhance boat handling abilities, particularly in confined areas like marinas and when dealing with swell and waves.
This comprehensive course will cover various areas, including theory on accessing weather information, powerboat terminology, rules, maritime regulations and navigation. Practical parts of the course covers, basic start up and shut down, manouevring and basic handling and manoverboard recovery.
Building upon the Powerboat Handling course, we offer the Safety Boat Operator course, specifically tailored to equip participants with the necessary skills to support water-based activities at clubs and recreation centers.
Cost
Members: $160 inc GST + $20.00 Australian Sailing registration fee.
Non-Members: $230 inc GST + $20.00 Australian Sailing registration fee.

Course Overview
This one-day course is designed to improve your boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as marinas and in swell and waves. You will learn more about engines and types of crafts and practise navigation techniques on a passage. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident. The skills and knowledge gained in Start Powerboating or equivalent power boating experience.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to further develop their powerboat driving skills. This course is also a prerequisite for becoming a Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Powerboat Handling completion certificate.
