Keelboat Start Helming

Keelboat Start Helming is the next step in your Keelboat Pathway. The Start Helming course continues to develop both your theory and practical skills to allow you to confidently take control of the helm. You will further advance your sailing skills and safety knowledge to enable you to skipper unsupervised in sheltered waters. In the Keelboat Start Helming you will cover preparation of the boat, helm and trim on all points of sail, recovery of man overboard whilst at the helm, assessing the risks on board, actions to take in an emergency, sailing backward, mooring, interpreting weather and environmental conditions and boat maintenance.

Once you have completed Keelboat Start Helming, the next course on the Keelboat Sailing Pathway is Keelboat - Start Racing! Try a racing experience to get a taste of the exhilaration of yacht racing.
