The Meggol, siting in 45m off Long Reef, had an interesting history, also being known as HMS Wexford, SS Doomba and HMAS Doomba during its life.

Built in the UK in 1919 and christened HMS Wexford, an Aberdare class minesweepers, it was bought to Australia in 1921 by the Brisbane Tug and Steamship Co. Ltd, renamed to SS Doomba and refitted to carry over 1,500 passengers. In 1939 it was requisitioned by the Royal Australian Navy and used for mine sweeping duties during World War 2. In the 1950's it was sold to to Meggitt Ltd to become an oil barge known as Meggol, before finally being scuttled as an artificial reef in 1976.

Leaving from the BWAC mooring in Ettalong, the Meggol is a great dive, with the option to include the old Manly ferry, the Dee Why which is located not far away, in the one dive.
