This course is for persons who require Powerboat Handling Certificate on their journey towards becoming a dinghy instructor, coach or volunteer at a club. Theory topics cover the SA boat licence requirements, Basic driving skills including MOB and anchoring are practiced. Rescue skills include towing a sailing craft, dealing with windsurfers and foils plus retrieving a capsized boat.

  


Course Overview
This one-day course is designed to improve your boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as marinas and in swell and waves. You will learn more about engines and types of crafts and practise navigation techniques on a passage. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident. The skills and knowledge gained in Start Powerboating or equivalent power boating experience.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to further develop their powerboat driving skills. This course is also a prerequisite for becoming a Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Powerboat Handling completion certificate.
