Learn to sail on a Magic 25. She's a small yacht with a keel, so she won't ever tip over! On the Magic 25, you'll learn all the basics of yachting including hoisting sails, tacking, gybing, helming and sail trim.

The Balmain Sailing School is conducted from the clubhouse of the Balmain Sailing Club, at the bottom of Water Street, Balmain in Sydney. The Balmain Sailing School is a Discover Sailing Centre accredited by Australian Sailing. Our Instructors are experienced and are all Australian Sailing certified.

The course runs over three by 4 hour sessions on consecutive Saturdays.

Once you sign up for a course, you'll automatically receive six Sail PASS temporary membership vouchers to the Balmain Sailing Club and a certificate upon completion. Each Sail PASS voucher will enable you to join a race crew on a club yacht to see if you enjoy racing.

Water confident and the skills, knowledge and experience you gained from Start Crewing.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who want to learn how to helm a keelboat, and continue their skill development as crew.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Helming completion certificate.
