BSSC Club Snapshot

Belmont Saints Squash Club has existed since February 1973. The club currently has approximately 144 members (at Dec 2023), varying in age from 7-90. We are a non-profit, incorporated sporting club. Our home location is the Belmont Squash Centre. We turned 50 last year!!
After not running juniors for approximately 25 years, BSSC has spent the past years offering a Junior Program. These numbers have steadied to approximately 25-30 kids, but ebb and flow during the year and we are looking forward to pushing this once again now the building works are mostly completed. This is run by Christine Elkington, in coordination with a mix of volunteers.
Over many years, we have run a Seniors program on Thursday afternoons. This is facilitiated by club volunteer Les Yates. Numbers are low but we have recently connected with the local council and community to attract more players.
Many members of the club initially come in either as juniors who become club members, The aim is to entice players into regular squash through in-house league, WA Squash League or Pennants.
The Club/Centre’s inhouse has commenced during the year and is steady in numbers. It is a good alternative to League or Pennant competition formats as it allows a good match but an earlier finish.
Club members Russell Chandler, Lyn Chandler, Chantelle Garrett, Raelene Marriott and others are key contributors to Squash WA, leading many of the League Committees such as Wednesday Mixed Day League, Monday Night Ladies League, and contributing to Pennant fixturing and State League.

The Building and BSSC

The State Government of WA owns the courts at Belmont Squash Centre which is to be known as The State Squash Centre from Jan 1, 2023, and have leased the building to WA Squash on a peppercorn rent basis. 
Currently there is a program of works to renovate the building. Club volunteer Russell Chandler is working with Squash WA to manage the program and coordinate with court operation and club activities.
