Event information
Compete for glory in the Brisbane Table Tennis Association's annual Closed Championship! In 2024, we offer:
- Junior aged based & Para events (Friday 18th October)
- Players can either be a club member, or non-members actively involved in our coaching program
- If any events have a lack of entries, gendered events of the same age will be merged
- RatingsCentral based skill level events (Sunday 20th October) – members only
- Open Mens, Womens & Doubles events (Sunday 20th October) – members only
Cash prizes for the winners ($100) and runners-up ($50) of the Open Singles events, with winners getting their name on the Honour Board under 2023 Champion Shanith Jayamaha ⭐
Medals for Junior events and equipment vouchers (also redeemable for medals) for Rated events.
Entry Fees are $12 for singles events and $6 per person for doubles events.
Entries close at 11:59PM Tuesday 15th October.
Full canteen services will be available for this event.
ENTRY CONDITIONS:

Tournament Control: The tournament will be held under TTA and ITTF rules & regulations.

Match Control: Each match will be controlled by an umpire whose decision will be final on point of fact. The decision of the referee will be final on point of law.

Affiliation: All Rated & Open event entrants on Sunday 20th October must be a registered Club, Associate or Life member of BTTA. All Junior & Para event entrants on Friday 18th October must be either actively engaged in BTTA's coaching program signed up as a Coaching Group Participant (and not a member of another club), or be a registered Club member of BTTA.

Fees: Entrants are liable for fees for all events entered, paid online through the BTTA Revolutionise Sport Portal prior to entry of the event.

Entries: Entries must be made via the BTTA RevSport Portal. Telephone or email entries will not be accepted, but please contact BTTA via email or in the club if you need any assistance with your entry. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organisers.
- Doubles Partners: Partners must be indicated on the online entry form. Both partners must submit their own entry. If a partner is required, type "REQUIRED" in the the space provided.

Ratings: Rated events are open to players below (or equal to) the points stated for the particular event. For doubles events the average of the pair's rating must be below (or equal to) the points stated for the particular event. The rating of players will be determined based on the RatingsCentral rating as of Wednesday 16th October 2024. All seeding and grading will be at the discretion of the BTTA Tournament Committee using RatingsCentral as a reference. All results will be submitted to RatingsCentral at the end of the event.
- Format: Where possible, events will be run in groups of three with two players progressing to the knockout stage where time permits. Events may be cancelled or merged without prior notice due to insufficient entries or any other reason the BTTA Tournament Committee sees fit.
- Timings: Event times are approximate only. Players not available to play when called up on will be liable for disqualification. Players should note event times when lodging their entry & be available at least 15 minutes prior to the advertised time slot. If unable to be present at the correct time, please notify the organisers of anticipated arrival time. However, disqualifications may still apply.

Umpiring: There is an expectation that players will be available to umpire other players' matches in-between their matches, and remain to umpire a match after they have been knocked out.

Balls: ITTF approved RADAK 3 Star plastic 40+ white balls will be used for all matches. Therefore, competitors must not wear predominantly white or pale coloured clothing.

Facility Specifications: Across 18 courts, there are 17x Stiga Expert Roller tables and 1x SAN-EI Paragon Sensor tables. Red Taraflex is laid on top of wooden flooring. Bright LEDs sit above all tables.

Player Equipment: Players must use a racket consisting of a blade not prohibited by ITTF regulations, with unmodified ITTF-approved coverings, adhered with glue not prohibited by ITTF regulations. Glueing must not be undertaken on the playing courts, but shall be permitted elsewhere within the hall.

Conduct: Alongside adhering to the rules and regulations, players shall engage in good sportsmanship out of respect to other players and participants in the hall. This includes not celebrating nets & edges, shaking the hands of the opponent/umpire/coaches, not making excessive & frequent noise, and not intentionally damaging BTTA equipment.

Prizes: The winners of the Open Mens & Womens Singles will receive $100 in cash each (plus their names recorded on the BTTA Honour Board), with the runner-up of each event receiving $50 cash (if more than 5 entrants). Winners and Runner-Ups of Junior & Para events will receive a medal. Winners of the Rated events will receive equipment vouchers.

Social Media: You agree to any photos or video captured during the tournament to be used by BTTA for advertising and promotional purposes. You can request to opt-out by contacting BTTA.

Defined Terms: In these Event Conditions: ‘BTTA’ means Brisbane Table Tennis Association Incorporated, and where the context permits, includes its respective administrators, directors, agents, officers, officials, committee members, volunteers, employees, other participants, and any sponsors.

Participating at Own Risk: You understand the nature of table tennis activities and are aware that participating in this sport contains risks. These risks may be caused by you and/or your minor child's own actions or inaction, or the actions or inaction of others. There may also be other risks and social and economic losses either not known to you or not readily foreseeable and you fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for losses, costs and damages you incur as a result of your participation in the sport and this tournament. In consideration of BTTA's acceptance of your nomination to participate in this tournament, you willingly assume all risks including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other members, injuries and illnesses. You further waive and release BTTA from all claims (including future claims), demands. losses, damages and liabilities of any kind known or unknown, arising out of your use of and participation in the sport and this tournament and the facilities contained in the BTTA premises.
