BSA 2024 SUMMER A-LEAGUE INFORMATION
A-League was introduced to provide additional game play opportunity for players at the A Grade level to play alongside or against an alternate structure to club fixtures. Modifications have been added at set points within the game to elevate game scenario plays within the A-League format. Current and former A Grade and representative level players along with coaches and scorers are invited to join the 6-week A-League program.

Team:
Athletes will be allocated to teams based on positional nominations.
Teams will be allocated 6 to 9 games depending on final number of teams.
A team short of players due to player absence can pick up for the position the absent player would have played in line with their nominated positions.
Pick-up player allowance is not to be used to alter the playing positions of the actual team players for that team to positions they are not identified for.
Teams with only 1 allocated pitcher can use pick-up pitcher, if required, to share pitching for 2nd game on double header night.
Game:
Games will be played Friday night - draw to be provided.
1hr 30min completed inning – no new innings started 5 minutes or less to go.
Game start times will be 6pm & 8pm – this is to allow for completed innings extending beyond 1hr 30 min and break for teams on double header night.
No finals – placing determined by ladder position at completion of all games.
Unless otherwise stated in modifications, normal softball rules will apply, such a
- Run ahead rule
- Courtesy runner for pitcher/catcher
Modification:
All team players will bat – 1 through 9/10/11 (all players in attendance).
Added base runner:
- At the 3rd inning a runner will be placed on 2nd base
- At the 5th inning a running will be placed on 3rd base
- Runner will be the batter in the lineup immediately prior to the lead off batter for the current inning
If 7 innings are completed and time allows game will continue to 8th and subsequent innings.
If score is tied at completion of 7 innings and time allows tie breaker will be played until one team has more runs at the completion of the inning or time expires.
Individual Reward:
Home run hit directly over one of 3 signs on D1 outfield fence.
Batted ball hit on the full into or within 2 bounces hits into one of the 3 signs on the D1 outfield fence.
Prize - $50 bar/canteen tab
- Note - Players under 18 years can only be provided canteen tab.
What to wear:
Players wear t-shirt in colour or similar for their allocated team – does not matter if not all one colour.
Players encouraged to wear knickerbockers, if available – colour does not matter.
Registration & Payment:
Interested participants are to complete the Event Registration
A-League participation fee $65/player – Invoice will be issued separately to each participant
Athletes registered in 2024/2025 BSA Summer Season as BSA Home or Permit are not required to complete any further RevSport Registration
Athletes not participating in 2024/2025 BSA Summer Season will be required to complete applicable RevSport Registration or Permit to comply with SAL/SQI procedures – contact will be made with direct with these individuals with relevant link to complete

While not all feedback may be able to be put into action it will be considered for future events.
The BSA Development Team may make changes to the format which are conducive to improving the A-League experience for participants.
