What We Do

Retaining Walls

Our company specialises in heritage sandstone retaining walls and have carried out many projects over the last nine years in this field. We are experienced in delivering these projects from initial consultation with the client, to carrying out the work, excavation, foundations, reinforced concrete blockwork, rebuild of sandstone, keeping to program and final delivery. A few of the projects we have carried out are Victoria Barracks sandstone perimeter wall remediation. The heritage listed Ocean View Victorian Mansion in Coogee.

We assist builders with their labour requirements. Our team of skilled labour and experienced tradesmen constantly deliver a high standard of service in this area.

Site Management

Our senior tradesmen have been assisting companies to site manage their projects delivering them on budget and to schedule.

Brickwork and Stonework Specialists

We have over 30 years experience in bricklaying and stone work. We have carried out all sizes of brickwork jobs in both residential and commercial area. We specialise in heritage and remedial works. These works require a great depth of knowledge, experience and attention to detail.

Greg Ferguson and his team have been engaged for the last six months on the restoration project for Ocean View 370 Alison Road, Coogee.
Ocean View is a large two storey Victorian federation mansion dating from 1916. Ocean View is heritage listed in Randwick LEP. It is a face brick building with two storey verandahs to all four elevations. The property is surrounded by detailed stone/palisade fences.
Oakleaf have been responsible for:
• Detailed repairs to the existing face brickwork
• Repointing of existing face brickwork
• Forming new detailed arch-headed window and verandah openings
• Reconstruction of existing face stone fences
• Reconstruction of existing face stone fences as retaining walls with concrete block cores faced both sides with
• salvaged existing stone block work
Oakleaf during the course of the works have shown evidence of a high level of skills in detailed heritage conservation works on face brickwork and stonework. Their works are carefully considered, particularly when dismantling and reconstructing existing stonework and they show high quality skills appropriate to heritage conservation works.
Greg Ferguson is keen to discuss details in advance, including providing trial samples for approval to ensure details, particularly jointing and repairs, are correct and appropriate to the circumstances. For example, Oakleaf numbered all stone blocks to fences and recorded numbers on large photographs of the fences prior to dismantling and reconstruction to match existing.
