Common question:
What is a competent swimming ability? The ability to swim 50 m freestyle without stopping. Swimming fitness will develop during the season by playing games and training. In practice in water polo the players sprint 10-20m at most and pass the ball or defend and then repeat. Learning the egg beater to tread water is one of the first techniques taught for new players.
When do we train? Team training is typically once per week - either Monday or Thursday with an optional fitness session (TBC) at Mayfeild Pool during the School Term 4 and Term 1 season.
When are the games? Saturdays in Term 4 and Term 1. Games are played at Mayfield, Lambton, Charlestown, Speers Point and Swansea Pools against the three other clubs in the area.
