Start Club level racing in a mentored, safe & fun environment. Sailing is conducted on a Saturday Morning with a mixture of both competitive and fun races during the season.

Ages: 6-15

When do you sail?

O'pen Skiffs sail on a Saturday morning from mid Sept to the end of March. During this period there are breaks for holidays, weekends away for state championships and a national championship regatta in December/ January. The state and national regattas are encouraged, but up to boat as to whether they enter.

Do I need experience?

We encourage all interested kids to do a Tackers (learn to sail course) first. While not necessary it is highly recommended, particularly for the younger kids to build confidence and water/boat awareness.

Please see our Tackers -Learn to Sail https://www.revolutionise.com.au/belmont16ftsc/tackers-junior-sailing-program/ for Upcoming Courses.

How do I get involved?

Reach out to our Sailing Manager Nadine and/ or our Class Captain Jeanine Drummond for more information.  Drop down to the Club on a Saturday during the sailing season. O'pen Skiffs are on the water from approx 10.30am to 12pm, with their race starting at 11.00am. The best time to meet O'pen Skiff sailors and families is between 9.30 – 10.30am, with a briefing usually held around 10.

If you have a boat, you can join up and start racing. If you are looking for a boat, we can help point you in the right direction.

How do parents become involved?

Our Junior sailing relys on parent volunteers. We encourage parents to get involved on the start boat, rescue boats or in other support activities.  If interested in volunteering please head tohttps://www.revolutionise.com.au/belmont16ftsc/volunteering/ or contact the Sailing Office on 4945 7736 to see what's involved.  If you are unable to volunteer, no pressure, as we want your kids sailing. However, we do not run a “drop and go” sports program, we are family friendly with the opportunity for everyone to get involved. Parents are, at a minimum, required to help their young sailors set up and pack up their boats.

What is the cost of sailing?

Season sailor registration is $55. Boat storage costs also apply if you choose to leave your boat at the Club.
