AVSL Round 1 Highlights: A Memorable Start

Published Mon 07 Oct 2024

The first round of the AVSL kicked off with a small but spirited group of athletes representing Bellarine, braving wet and windy conditions.

A standout moment was the inspiring comeback of Melissa Foot, who returned to the track for Bellarine after more than 25 years, clocking an impressive 14.47 in the 100m event in the 45+ age group. It was also fantastic to see Life Member Tony Bradford back on the track this season.

We also welcomed new members Niamh Partidge, who made her debut in Bellarine colors at Ballarat, and Caitlin Foley, who showcased her talent at Aberfeldie.

In the hurdles, Erin Foley and Miller Smith made their returns after battling injuries last season, demonstrating great resilience and determination.

A special mention goes to our highest point scorer for the round, Suzanna Mavromihalis, who earned 1078 points, narrowly edging out Erin Foley by just 2 points.

We look forward to seeing even more Bellarine athletes competing in the upcoming rounds!
