Juniors

The junior division in Dragon Boating is from 10-18yrs and is still developing in Victoria. One of Beechworth Dragon Boat Club's visions, is to build a strong junior team, and we are lucky to have in our membership some experienced juniors already, two of which have competed with the Australian National Team the Auroras. We know how important it is for juniors to train together as a crew, and to be able to have fun and enjoy their sport. 

At BDBC the juniors will have regular weekly training times (TBC), with fun warm-up/games on land before going out onto the water. On water they will learn the techniques of paddling and drumming, timing, calls, and working as a team. There may even be a little music to paddle to...

The Rapids

Every junior in Victoria is also a member of the Melbourne based team - The Rapids. The Rapids were formed by Dragon Boat Victoria to bring juniors of all clubs together, to get to know each other, to train and race together at regattas. The Rapids even have their own uniform.

There will also be opportunities to train with local juniors from other regional clubs. It is very important that we band together to help grow the junior division in Victoria.
