About Us

Beechworth Dragon Boat Club Inc. was formed in 2021 by a group of experienced Dragon Boaters, who between them contain accreditations in coaching, sweeping and officiating. They have raced with clubs at local and state regattas; with the Victorian State Team at a National Level; and on the world stage including events such as the World Club Crews in Hungary and the World Championships in Thailand as members of the Auroras, Australia's National team.

Beechworth Dragon Boat Club Inc., situated on Lake Sambell in the beautiful historic town of Beechworth, Victoria, is committed to honouring the Gold Mining history of the town and in particular, the Chinese heritage, of which Dragon Boating as a sport was born.

In keeping with a gold theme, our team will be racing as the ‘Beechworth Golden Serpents’. The Club uniform is black and gold in colour and bears the logo of a Golden Serpent, with the motto ‘Racing for Gold’ written in Chinese. We are sure to make a statement on the race course as we are going for gold!

We encourage all interested members of the Beechworth Community to come along, have a paddle, and to see what dragon boating on beautiful Lake Sambell is all about. We look forward to building this club and representing Beechworth on the water!
