Overview

This ride is an extension to the Katoomba Kapers ride and is:

  • Open only to the attendees of the Katoomba Kapers ride. Riders of Katoomba Kapers ride can join this extension ride on the day, and where they were not pre-registered, will be added to the registration after the ride. Riders are to be current BayBug members.
  • Will commence in Penrith (not Brewer st) after the Katoomba Kapers ride reaches Penrith, which is forecasted to be at around 12:30pm. The actual start time may vary.
  • Should it be looking to become dark (sunset), we may choose to complete the ride at a train station e.g. Parramatta Station, enabling a return to Strathfield.
  • Suggest bringing 2 spare tubes for this combined long ride.
  • Bring your Opal Card! There will be many opportunities to leave this ride near a railway station when the time is right for you.

Route

The ride roughly follows the western railway line back to Strathfield. It does this initially on the south side, where about 7km in we will stop at Caddens shops for coffee/food. At approximately 11km in St Marys  we will cross over the other side  of Parramatta Rd. At roughly 22km (after passing through Rooty Hill and crossing the M7) we will go through a tunnel under the railway line to the north side, into Nurragingy Reserve. Roughly continuing  along the rail, we will pass through Blacktown, and Parramatta, crossing the rail at various points.

Once in Parramatta, we will pass through Parramatta Park and follow the Parramatta Valley Cycle way to Silverwater Rd, Sydney Olympic Park, and then head off to Strathfield.

Slight variations may occur to the route depending on foot traffic and vehicle traffic on the day.

Due to the duration of the outing I recommend packing an extra snack or two with you.
