To Commemorate Balmain Rowing Club’s oarsmen who answered the Empire’s call to arms during WWl, we will be holding an Anzac memorial dawn row on Sunday 25th April. All members are invited to row.
Crews will leave BRC pontoon before dawn, assembling at White Horse Point for a short service and the laying of eleven floral tributes in honour of our oarsmen who made the supreme sacrifice. In keeping with Anzac spirit, bagpipes will be played from White Horse Point, by club member Jeremy Childs, as crews row out and after the service as they continue with the memorial row down Iron Cove.
Crews will assemble at the end of Iron Cove in readiness to race in the 500m “Dardenelles Dash”.
On returning to the shed an Anzac breakfast will be provided for everyone on the balcony.
Non rowers are invited to the service which can be viewed near the piper at the end of White Horse Point. They are also invited to join the crews for breakfast on their return.
Please register your availability to be part of a crew via the link above. You will be advised of your crew on the afternoon of the 24th.
