Key Dates: December & January

Christmas Party Saturday Dec 16th
It's BYO food & drink - plus the bar will be open for beer, wine & soft drinks and Santa arriving around 6pm with sweets for the kids.
We will also try and get the puffins out on the water for those that arrive early, for some fun sailing around marks.
Kids Sailing & Centreboard Racing Dates
This coming Sunday 17th of December will be our last sailing day for kids and centreboarders before christmas, with the program recommencing on Sunday 28th January.
If in doubt, all dates are on the website: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/avalonsailingclub/events/
Private Event - Friday 22nd December
A member has booked the club for a family event on Friday 22nd December from 2pm - 10pm so the club is not available for a casual "Friday Session" on this date. Members may access their equipment and launch tenders to get to their yachts, but are asked to be mindful of the event and not interfere with the guests enjoyment. Please refrain from any maintenance or boat repairs and avoid using the deck for rigging.
Casual Use of the Clubhouse December - January
We have one of the very best locations on Pittwater, and members are encouraged to use the club and our facilities year round. The summer holidays are a busy period and members are reminded that casual use of the clubhouse includes use of the kitchen, hall, veranda, deck, BBQ, tables, chairs etc with family and friends for up to 20 people.
Members may use the clubhouse anytime provided there is not a clash with any sailing event, social function or paid hire, which are typically posted as events on the website. Please ensure there is no disruption to other members or neighbours, and that the facilities are shared with other members present.
Whilst there is no official sailing program for the kids during the summer holidays, it is peak season for members accessing their equipment, which includes those “sky dinghies” hanging from the ceiling. Therefore please return all equipment to its allocated rack and leave all aisles clear so other members can access their boats.
Unfortunately casual use of Club owned sailing boats and support craft is not permitted for safety and maintenance reasons.
Gatherings of more than 20 people are not considered casual use, and require formal approval through clubhouse Hire.
Members must ensure the Club is left clean and tidy. Specifically that the Kitchen, BBQ, crockery etc are cleaned and put away, rubbish disposed of, and noise kept to a reasonable level.
If you are last to leave it is your responsibility to lock up, never leave the club unlocked when unattended. Even if you found the club open when you arrived, if you are last to leave, and there is nobody around, lock it.
Please familiarise yourself with all the Do’s and Don'ts which are clearly listed on the website: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/avalonsailingclub/members/code-of-conduct/
Club Tenders
The Club has two plastic tenders / dinghies stored on the deck for Club member use. These are available to boat owners who need to access their vessel for short periods, like an hour or two for some work on their boat or to pick something up. They are not to leave the Club area nor are they to be used for long periods - especially during the holiday period when demand is high. If you are going out sailing you must use your own tender.
15th - 18th January Kids Sailing Camp
We are running a four day sailing camp from the 15th-18th January. The camp will run two streams concurrently; one for beginners and the other for those who want to improve their skills. The camp is open to members and non-members alike. If your kids are looking for something to do in the holidays - this is an excellent 4 day program. If you have friends whose kids may be interested in giving sailing a go - this is a perfect way to try it out. Kids that really enjoy the experience can then join Blue or Red Group for the rest of the season.
Registration is via the website: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/avalonsailingclub/events/213077/
Australia Day Regatta - 26th January
The Australia Day Regatta is the oldest continuously run regatta in the world, and Avalon Sailing Club is once again hosting it on Pittwater for centreboards and yachts. This is always a fun family day out. You can find the official program by clicking here.
Centreboard and Yacht entries are via the website: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/avalonsailingclub/events/
Make sure to enjoy the club, our facilities and your boat during the summer break and to share our special space with your family and friends.
On behalf of the whole committee, we wish you, your families and loved ones a very happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you down at the club or out on the water.
thank you
