Registrations for this course are closed.
Powerboat Handling is intended for people who:
- need a boat licence
- need to extend their skills and knowledge
Prerequisites: none but some powerboating experience beneficial
Run over a evening thursday 6pm to 9pm and
full day around the water, saturday 9am to 5pm
Includes:
- building skills in operating your boat safely in confined area eg around other sailing dinghy's
- this course is a requirement to be a sailing instructor
- towing
- rescue and race management
During the day we will be out on the water, may get some spray, bring warm clothing in winter.
There will also be a another powerboat "Safety" course which is up another skill level, good for everyone doing support duties and required as coach.

Course Overview
This one-day course is designed to improve your boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as marinas and in swell and waves. You will learn more about engines and types of crafts and practise navigation techniques on a passage. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident. The skills and knowledge gained in Start Powerboating or equivalent power boating experience.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to further develop their powerboat driving skills. This course is also a prerequisite for becoming a Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Powerboat Handling completion certificate.
