Avalon Sailing Club is the home for Couta boats on Pittwater, and a few of their owners are offering a unique experience for members of the public to enjoy a sail in their classic wooden boats as part of the Avalon Centenary Celebrations.
Named after the barracouta their Melbournian skippers where hoping to catch, the boats were designed in the 19th century to hold plenty of fish and for speed, as first back to market would get the best price.
Attendance is free, but priority will be given to those who register.
Sausages and refreshments will be served on the deck.
Feel free to dress appropriately (1920s theme) - or "Avalon Now" striped t-Shirt which looks the part !
