Info on Sessions

Where and when do we swim and how do they work?

Starting 31st July 2024, the Adelaide Aquatic Centre will cease operations and close to prepare for the redevelopment to a new Aquatic Centre. Due to this, Adelaide University Swimming Club will hold sessions at Freedom Fitness from 1 August onwards, every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:20pm to 8:40pm. Freedom Fitness is a fitness club which is only an 18-minute walk from The University of Adelaide North Terrace campus. Attached is a Google Maps screenshot of the route to Freedom Fitness from Hub Central. Arriving at the pool is your own responsibility - but we can try to help where we can. Please post in our Facebook group if you need help getting to the pool (see 'Contact Us' page), or send us an email. We will be posting regular updates on the session day on our Facebook Group and Instagram and FB stories on how to get to the pool and what time it will be.

2024 Session Date Ranges and Times

Although our sessions start at 7:20pm, please arrive 15 minutes prior so we can take your attendance. Then we can get into the pool together at 7:20pm. Our swimming sets may incorporate the use of a pull buoy and kickboard. We encourage you to bring your own if you have them, but you're welcome to use some of the club's equipment.

23 July - 30 July at Adelaide Aquatic Centre from 6pm to 7pm; and

1 August - 19 November at Freedom Fitness from 7:20pm to 8:40pm

All sessions are optional, which means every member can choose to join ANY of them without problems. We cater for swimmers who know the basic techniques of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. We have program available every session for the medium and fast lane swimmers. Sometimes the program requires the use of a kickboard and pull buoy. We encourage you to bring your own to the training session but if you do not have any, we can lend you one. All our equipment is marked with a unique letter. It is important that you do not share equipment with anyone else as per our COVID-19 guidelines. After you have purchased a membership, prior to coming to a session, please purchase your entries into the pool either by selecting individual sessions or selecting ALL sessions in a semester. These can be purchased  in the 'Swimming sessions' tab on our website at this link:
