Info on Sessions

When/where do we swim? How does it work?

Starting 31st July 2024, the Adelaide Aquatic Centre will cease operations and close to prepare for the redevelopment to a new Aquatic Centre. Due to this, Adelaide University Swimming Club will hold sessions at external venues near the University of Adelaide North Terrace campus every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Look below for session times and the venues for 2025!

2025 Session Date Ranges and Times

Please arrive 15 minutes prior so we can take your attendance. Then we can get into the pool together at the start time. Our swimming sets may incorporate the use of a pull buoy and kickboard. We encourage you to bring your own if you have them, but you're welcome to use some of the club's equipment.

4 March - 15 April at Norwood Swimming Centre from 6pm to 7pm; and

17 April - 3 July at Freedom Fitness from 7:20pm to 8:40pm

29 July - 9 October at Freedom Fitness from 7:20pm to 8:40pm

14 October - 20 November at Norwood Swimming Centre from 6pm to 7pm

Below are screenshots taken from Google Maps of the route to Norwood Swimming Centre and to Freedom Fitness from Hub Central. Also see session dates, times and venues below the screenshots! Arriving at the pool is your own responsibility - but we can try to help where we can. Please post in our Facebook group if you need help getting to the pool (see 'Contact Us' page), or send us an email. We will be posting regular updates on the session day on our Facebook Group and Instagram and FB stories on how to get to the pool and what time it will be.

All sessions are optional, which means every member can choose to join ANY of them without problems. We cater for swimmers who know the basic techniques of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. We have program available every session for the medium and fast lane swimmers. Sometimes the program requires the use of a kickboard and pull buoy. We encourage you to bring your own to the training session but if you do not have any, we can lend you one. All our equipment is marked with a unique letter. It is important that you do not share equipment with anyone else as per our COVID-19 guidelines. After you have purchased a membership, prior to coming to a session, please purchase your entries into the pool either by selecting individual sessions or selecting ALL sessions in a semester. These can be purchased  in the 'Swimming sessions' tab on our website at this link:

Important notes:

  • If you have a Norwood Swimming Centre or Freedom Fitness membership/pass and still want to join our swimming sessions, do let us know via email or any of our socials. You will not be required to pay our club for entry, and you can continue to use your pass.
  • All payments are either done on this website, or in person using our Square card reader. Please note that we do not accept cash. If you are unable to pay using a card, let us know by email and we will try to accomodate you.

Not sure whether you want to join the club? Use our Come & Try offer!

We offer a Come and Try session for people interested in joining the club. You can purchase this without a membership, and come to a single training session to see how we work.

Note that we ask that every member and every person who comes for the Come & Try swimming session has:

  • Basic knowledge of the three main strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke).

  •  The ability to swim 100m (4 laps of a 25m pool) non-stop.
