Welcome all! The Adelaide University Swimming Club is a social and casual swimming club. We help our members improve their fitness, technique and times. Please note that we do not own a pool and there is no pool available on the University of Adelaide North Terrace campus. Adelaide University Swimming Club will hold sessions at external facilities on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the whole of 2025. For more info on when and where we swim, visit our Info on Sessions page!
We require that you are able to swim the basic techniques of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke for 100m non-stop. It's ok if you aren't sure you can reach this - you're welcome to come along to a session to see how training sessions work. Unfortunately, we are unable to teach swimming to beginners. However, we may be running one-off events for beginners within the year so stay tuned to our social media!
We will hire a pool as close to the University of Adelaide North Terrace campus as possible, and swim in the evenings twice a week. We will have a slow and medium/fast lane, where swimmers can assign themselves to one of those lanes. Each lane is given an easy (1-1.8km) and medium/hard (1.8-3km) set or program to complete within the training session. If there is time, we will have a fun relay between lanes just to test our swimming abilities and for some competitive spirit. We also hold regular social events outside the pool, so members can get to know their fellow swimmers and students.
Buy membership and entry on this website! If you are not sure whether you would like to buy membership, you can purchase a Come & Try session on our 'Shop' page for just $5 and come to any training session to try it out. *Note: Come & Try sessions can only be purchased once per person per year.
Membership each year comes with an Adelaide University Swimming Club black silicone cap, subsidised entry fees into the pool, invites to special events, and access to volunteers with a wealth of experience and accreditation to help you with your swimming technique. You also get to swim with other university students in an active and supportive social environment.
