The F18 class of catamarans was first introduced to Australian sailors
in the 1990s with an immediate uptake that saw unprecedented
growth between 1993 and 2000, with the fleet continuing to grow to
this day.

In 2003 the Australian Formula 18 Association was founded, and
despite being only new on the international scene was chosen to host
the World Titles in 2007 with competitors from across the globe
competing against 50 Australian sailors.
